President Donald Trump has repeatedly displayed shaky math skills and an apparent lack of understanding of equations and percentages.
That deficit was on full display again at a dinner Thursday, Sept. 17, in the White House Rose Garden.
Around 100 hunters, anglers and outdoor industry officials gathered to hear the president discuss an executive order that removes restrictions on fishing and hunting.

But Trump’s may have failed to get his message across. He slurred his words and bungled simple math as he crowed about “duck hunters” and winning a nonsensical share of their votes.
“We also strongly support your duck hunters. Duck hunters, hunters,” he said slurring “duck,” before continuing with, “The thing is a big deal.”
“And they came to us and they met with my people, and they came to me, my people and we are fully in favor of our duck hunters. Who would think that’s a big deal?” he said in wonder.
“I hear I got 100 percent of the duck hunter vote. What did I get 100? If there was 150, I would have gotten 150 percent,” he inanely bragged.
No, he wouldn’t. There’s no such thing as winning 150 percent of a vote.
He touted his new executive order which opens up more federal land to hunting and fishing. And he bragged about his order rolling back a Biden rule banning the use of lead ammunition and tackle, The Hill reported.
Lead is poisonous for wildlife. When animals eat game, hunters leave behind lead-riddled ammunition; the lead poisons them and can kill them. That’s why former President Joe Biden banned it.
His fuzzy math was also on display as he was leaving a campaign rally in North Carolina Wednesday, Sept. 17. As Trump was getting ready to board Air Force One in Charlotte, he told reporters he equated buying something from a foreign country as a loss.
“For instance, if we lose $50 billion a year with a country and we say we’re not going to do trade with you anymore, we don’t lose $50 billion a year,” Trump absurdly stated.
A post on X showing the clip explained it this way.
“President Trump Explains Trade Deficits: ‘If we buy 2 billion dollars worth of Bananas from Brazil, we’re actually losing 2 billion dollars. So if we stop eating bananas, we actually save 2 billion dollars’. It’s just simple Economics.”
Social media devolved into a comical frenzy of Trump jokes, poking fun at the president and using his own words against him.
“He’s dum with a b,” an X user proclaimed, referring to Trump repeatedly saying most people don’t know “dumb” is spelled with a “b.” Most third graders know “dumb” is spelled with a “b.”
Others agreed. “Trump’s maths is just beyond ridiculous…. He’s pathetic!!”
This commenter didn’t hold back. “OMG, he is such a f–king idiot. The US should be super embarrassed.”
Another put it this way, “Once again, that’s not how math works.”
This from a guy who is constantly bragging about his IQ and claiming to be smarter than former Presidents Barack Obama and Biden, among many others.
For the record, Biden graduated from the University of Delaware with a BA in history and political science, and from Syracuse University College of Law with a Juris Doctor (J.D.).
And Obama? Well, he too blows Trump out of the water with his educational background, earning a B.A. in political science from Columbia University and a J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School.
Not to mention, a confused Trump repeatedly boasts about “acing” IQ tests and daring others to take one. That’s fine, except he didn’t take IQ tests. He actually took three cognitive tests in less than a year after returning to the White House in January of 2025.
Trump repeatedly took the exam, known as the MoCA test, last year. It’s a 10-minute screening tool for mild cognitive impairment that people with normal cognition easily pass. It includes basic tasks like serial subtraction, not complex mathematical equations, for example, and identifying pictures of animals.
