Usually, when it comes to events like the CFDA Fashion Awards, we expect to see looks that leave our jaws on the floor. However, this year’s event gave us a few more questionable looks from some of our favorite stars, and we’ve got to talk about them!
While we love the folks we’re about to talk about on any other occasion, we’ve got to be honest and say that their looks at this year’s fashion event left us disappointed and wanting more. Don’t fight us! Let’s get into it.
Olandria

Olandria is a rising fashion icon; there’s absolutely no doubt about that. We’ve seen her slay on carpets time and time and time again. And that’s exactly why this look was so surprising for us. It just felt as if they gave her a black push-up corset (albeit a GREAT one) and draped some fabric and diamonds on her.
There’s nothing really new here, and for someone as fabulous as Ola, we just wanted more to further cement her status as the fashion girlie to watch!

Megan Thee Stallion

Similarly, Megan Thee Stallion’s look—while fall-appropriate thanks to the color—felt like another variation of something we’ve already seen her in before! We understand the mantra: “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But her body is way too good to be put in the same silhouettes all the time. The dress is wonderful; Megan is wonderful. She makes anything she puts on that much more elevated. It’s time to give her more to work with!
Naomi Osaka

Now this one pained us to include because if you know anything about Naomi Osaka and her passion for fashion, you know she’s going to come with some serious heat. So, to see her in this tablecloth-looking, polka dot dress just threw us way off. We’re sure there’s probably a story here as to why she chose it, but the dress itself on her doesn’t pique our interest enough to figure out what it is.
Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o, much like all the other women on this list, is stunning. But this outfit was just plain boring. And we get it, GAP isn’t really known for its super ornate, intricate, or industry-leading designs. We also get that there is power in simplicity and less is more, sometimes. But this? This just wasn’t a good execution of that.
Shaboozey

OK, we get it: you’re a country music star, and you love leaning into that genre through your fashion. But at some point, we’ve got to get a little more creative, right? Think back to the look Shaboozey wore to the Met Gala earlier this year or even the Grammys in February 2025. Those were looks! So we know he can go there. We’re just sad that he didn’t for this year’s CFDA Awards.
