The Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce applauds the advancement of legislation supporting the financing framework for the proposed Sphere at National Harbor. The Chamber also recognizes the leadership that has brought one of the most significant proposed economic development projects in Prince George’s County closer to reality.

The Chamber thanks Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy for her leadership and vision in pursuing this transformational investment. It also thanks the Prince George’s County Council for its deliberation, its engagement with stakeholders, and its action to move the legislation forward.

The Council advanced CB-111-2026 on October 5 with amendments addressing community benefits and a labor peace agreement. The legislation is scheduled for final Council action on October 27.

Throughout the process, the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce has worked to make sure the voice of Prince George’s County’s business community was represented, particularly the small and mid-sized businesses led by women, veterans, minorities, and other diverse entrepreneurs who contribute significantly to the local economy. The Chamber has remained committed to giving these businesses a meaningful voice in the discussions about this major investment and the economic opportunities it can create.

The Chamber engaged its members and business stakeholders and encouraged them to participate in the public process. It also advocated for an approach that creates pathways for local companies to take part in the contracting, procurement, workforce, and economic opportunities the project generates.

“We thank County Executive Aisha Braveboy for her leadership and vision in pursuing this opportunity, and we thank the Prince George’s County Council for its engagement and for moving this important project forward. Throughout this process, the Chamber has remained focused on ensuring that our local businesses and MBE community have a seat at the table and an opportunity to participate in the economic value this project can create,” said Alexander K. Austin, president and CEO, Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce.

The proposed Sphere National Harbor would be the second Sphere venue in the United States and would bring a 6,000-seat immersive entertainment destination to National Harbor. The County commissioned an economic impact analysis with the following projections:

• approximately $1.6 billion in economic benefits during construction,

• more than $1.3 billion in annual economic impact within Prince George’s County once the venue is operating, and

• approximately 7,100 full- and part-time jobs supported throughout the County.

The Chamber believes those projections also create an important responsibility: ensuring that the economic impact reaches businesses and communities throughout Prince George’s County.

The Community Benefits Agreement amendment adopted by the Council sets out several priorities that align with the Chamber’s advocacy. They include significant participation by County-based minority business enterprises and local small businesses, local hiring, workforce development, job training, and career advancement.

As CB-111-2026 moves toward final consideration and the Sphere project progresses, the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce will keep working with County leadership, the business community, and project stakeholders. The goal is to expand access to information and position local businesses to compete for opportunities associated with the development.

The Chamber looks forward to continuing its engagement with the County Executive’s Administration, the Prince George’s County Council, Sphere Entertainment, the business community, and labor and community stakeholders as this important project advances.
