Donald Trump wanted everyone to know one thing before he boarded Marine One on Friday: He never gets tired. Not ever.

The 80-year-old delivered the boast straight-faced, even tacking on a punchline about how big a news story it would be if he ever ran out of gas. It was a bold claim from a man who has been caught nodding off in front of cameras so often that “Sleepy Don” has practically become his second title.

But this time, it wasn’t his eyelids that gave him away. About a day after the brag, a close-up from his latest rally had people zooming in on a very different part of the president, and some of them wished they hadn’t.

Trump made the comments on Oct. 2 while speaking with reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before flying to a rally in Mobile, Alabama. The trip came one day after he swung through Texas and Oklahoma as he ramps up campaigning ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

“I never get tired. If I got tired, it would be a big story, I can tell you,” Trump told a reporter in a clip that was posted on X.

The bravado didn’t come out of nowhere. One day earlier, at a stop at the Peterbilt Motors plant outside Denton, Texas, Trump patted himself on the back for being able to handle both a ramp and a set of stairs, a line that earned a lukewarm round of applause, The New Republic reported.

Then came Saturday. Trump rolled into Vandalia, Ohio, where he told a packed gym at Vandalia-Butler High School to back Sen. Jon Husted and gubernatorial hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy as if Trump himself were on the ballot.

He grinned his way through the night, but one photographer caught him from the exact angle his team has spent years trying to dodge.

The close-up, which the Threads user claims came from Getty Images, shows Trump beaming mid-laugh as the loose, folded skin under his jaw spills down toward his collar in full, unfiltered view.

A Threads account posted the image Saturday night with a tongue-in-cheek apology for “not blurring out part of this pic,” then followed up to assure skeptics that yes, it was a real photo.

The jokes landed fast. One person took a single look and asked, “Is that a turkey?” Another admitted, “I dont know why I suddenly thought about the butterball hotline.”

Others weren’t buying Trump’s fitness pitch, either. “Guys, I’m really starting to think that Trump guy might be lying about being the fittest president,” one user wrote.

Over on X, where the “never tired” clip was making the rounds, people came with receipts. “Yea, he’s just the master of the LONG BLINK,” one person sarcastically wrote, while another joked, “He must’ve slept through all of the big stories about his impromptu naps.”

That last jab cuts deep. Trump has long brushed off the viral nap clips, claiming he’s just resting his eyes and insisting he hears everything. Still, the footage keeps piling up.

In June, he appeared to doze off on live TV while members of his administration briefed the press. In August, he seemed to fade out while standing during a White House crypto briefing. And just last month, he looked to be fighting sleep as Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke during their summit in Washington.

It’s an awkward look for a politician who spent years branding Joe Biden as “Sleepy Joe.”

His neck, meanwhile, has its own rap sheet. Just days ago, a tight close-up had viewers saying Trump had never looked worse. Not to mention, back in July, a low-angle photo from his rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner appearance went viral for the bulge under his chin. And last November, he got roasted after mimicking a bird’s gobble during the annual turkey pardon, with one viewer cracking that the president and the turkey “have the same neck.”

Trump has made no secret of how much those images bother him. He once blasted TIME magazine for picking a low-angle cover shot that he felt put his neck and thinning hair on blast.

“I never liked taking pictures from underneath angles,” he wrote on Truth Social, “but this is a super bad picture, and deserves to be called out. What are they doing, and why?”

With the midterms a month out and more rallies already on the calendar, Trump will have plenty of chances to prove he never gets tired. The cameras will be watching… from every angle.
